Speaker Heastie Continues Statewide Tour in Suffolk County with Assemblymember Jean-Pierre

Speaker Carl Heastie continued his annual statewide tour this week with Assemblymember Kimberly Jean-Pierre in Amityville, where they visited the Bolden Mack Basketball League.

“Every year on my tour, I get the opportunity to see the great work being done in our communities to help the next generation grow and thrive,” said Speaker Heastie. “It’s great see programs like the Bolden Mack Basketball League that are engaging kids here in Amityville and working to reduce community violence.”

“I’m honored to have Speaker Heastie join us in Amityville to see some of our great youth programs in action,” said Assemblymember Jean-Pierre. “It takes this kind of community action to reduce violence, and the Bolden Mack Basketball League is doing it every day. They are transforming our area and preparing our youth to become the outstanding citizens we know they can be.”

Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Jean-Pierre were joined by Bolden Mack Basketball league founder Andrew Ayodeji to watch the summer youth basketball tournament taking place at the Bolden Mack Park and to discuss the importance of youth programs to reduce community violence. The Bolden Mack Basketball league was founded in 2017 by Andrew Ayodeji and Daniel Lloyd to reduce community violence by mentoring youth through education, athletic and cultural activities. They work to accomplish their mission through basketball leagues, character educational workshops and community led initiatives, to build life skills for at-risk children, youth and young adults.
