Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Wallace Announce $160,000 in State Funding for Griffith Park & Sloan Active Hose Company No. 1

Speaker Carl Heastie today continued his annual statewide tour in Erie County, joining Assemblymember Monica Wallace to announce $100,000 to make bathrooms at Griffith Park compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and $60,000 for Sloan Active Hose Company No. 1 to purchase equipment to put out electric vehicle fires.

“One of my favorite parts of my statewide tour is seeing the great things happening in our communities,” Speaker Heastie said. “The funding we announced here today will help make Griffith Park accessible so everyone can enjoy the community events that happen here, and will make sure first responders have the tools they need to put out electric vehicle fires and keep their friends and neighbors safe.”

“The recently-completed projects are transformative for the Village of Sloan, and I’m honored to showcase Griffith Park and our volunteer fire community to Speaker Heastie this afternoon,” said Assemblymember Wallace. “Thanks to funding allocated by the Assembly Majority, Sloan residents have amazing new park amenities, and our brave firefighters have new equipment to protect the people in our community. I thank my colleagues in the Assembly Majority for working with me and our local partners to help Sloan reach its full potential.”

In the last stop of today’s portion of the tour, Speaker Heastie joined Assemblymember Wallace in the Village of Sloan to tour Griffith Park and the Sloan Active Hose Company No. 1, where recent renovations to the park include a splash pad, new pickleball courts, a new roller hockey court, and sidewalks, all made possible with funding by the Assembly Majority. Additionally, the funds secured by the Assembly Majority have been used to fund the free summer concerts at Griffith Park and much-needed fire equipment to be used by the Sloan fire department.
