Speaker Heastie Stops in Monticello on Annual Statewide Tour, Announcing $2 Million for the Ted Stroebele Recreation Center

Speaker Carl Heastie today continued his annual statewide tour in Monticello, where he and Assemblymember Aileen Gunther visited the Ted Stroebele Recreation Center and announced $2 million in state funds for improvements to the facility.

“Our community meeting spaces sit at the very heart of our neighborhoods,” said Speaker Heastie. “The Assembly Majority is honored to help the Stroebele Center begin a new chapter in its history as it continues to serve the people of Monticello.”

“From the Parks and Recreation Department to our Senior Citizens Club to even our Justice Court – the Stroebele Center is always bursting at the seams with activity,” said Assemblymember Gunther. “It’s time we give the center the funding needed to expand and continue the work they do for our neighbors. I’m incredibly thankful for my colleagues in the Assembly Majority for their continued support of our local communities.”

Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Gunther today toured the Ted Stroebele Recreation Center in Monticello, where they announced $2 million in funding to improve lighting and fencing for the basketball court, rehabilitation of the community center’s bathroom and repairs for the roof and sewage system. The center is a neighborhood facility that houses the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Monticello Justice Court and Office, the Monticello Police Department Division, the Monticello Senior Citizens Club, Meals-on-Wheels and a private ambulance service. The Stroebele Center also provides a free place for other community groups and nonprofits to hold meetings.
