Agency Mission
The Division of Probation and Correctional Alternatives (DPCA) provides
financial aid and technical assistance to local probation departments and
not-for-profit organizations that provide alternative sanctions for offenders.
Year-to-Year Change
The Executive proposes an All Funds decrease of $1,531,400 or 1.7 percent.
This represents an All Funds State Operations increase of $402,900 or
17 percent and an Aid to Localities decrease of $1,934,300 or 2.2 percent.
Legislative Proposals
The Executive proposes a reduction in State Fiscal Year 2001-02 of
$4,061,000 in Alternative To Incarceration (ATI) funding. The Assembly
restores funding for these important programmatic efforts. In addition,
funding for the Intensive Supervision Probation program is restored. The
Assembly proposes a total funding increase of $8,750,000 to restore and
enhance these important programs.
The Assembly provides $4,000,000 in funding for supervision, monitoring
and mandatory treatment of certain non-violent drug offenders.
