Assembly Health Committee advances 10 bills

Lead Hazard Clean-up – Requires the New York State Commissioner of Health to take action when an area of lead poisoning has been designated. Current law allows action but does not require it. (A431, Dinowitz)
Public Health Emergency Notifications - Requires county health commissioners to notify all heads of municipalities and county legislators in the affected area in the event of an imminent risk to public health and safety. (A535, Abinanti)
Lupus Education and Outreach - Creates a Lupus education and outreach program within the New York State Department of Health. (A544, Gibson)
Leukemia Tax Check-Off - Establishes an income tax check-off to fund leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma education and outreach. (A558, Cusick)
Lung Cancer Tax Check-Off - Establishes an income tax check-off to fund lung cancer education and outreach. (A 620, Gibson)
Protecting Day Care Air Quality - Bars day care centers from being built near environmentally hazardous sites. Requires air quality and ventilation standards for day care centers. (A918, Englebright)
Colon Cancer Tax Check-Off - Establishes an income tax check-off to fund colon cancer education. (A1538, Cymbrowitz)
Hospital Observation Services - Technical amendments to a 2012 law regulating hospital observation services. (A1988, Gottfried)
