New York, NY – The Members of the Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus are pleased to learn of the resignation of Governor Ricardo Rosselló. We stand in solidarity with the people of Puerto Rico and celebrate their unity in demanding dignity and accountability from their government. The startling and offensive language shared by members of the local government should never be accepted; and the swiftness with which Puerto Ricans across the island and New York demanded accountability is a testament to the pride and dignity of this community. As elected officials representing large communities of Puerto Ricans all across New York State, we will continue to monitor in earnest the island’s transition to a new, more deserving and respectable government.
