The Economic Development, Job Creation, Commerce and Industry Committee oversees the State's economic development programs administered through the Department of Economic Development. In addition, the Committee is responsible for oversight of the State's Alcoholic Beverage Control Laws. The SFY 2010-2011 Department of Economic Development's budget was an estimated $70 million and the State Liquor Authority's budget an estimated $22 million. Other state agencies under the purview of the committee include the Foundation for Science, Technology, and Innovation and the Urban Development Corporation. The purpose of this hearing is to examine the overall impact of the 2010-2011 budget on economic development programs and the implementation of State funded initiatives at the State Liquor Authority.
